Agua Bendita was founded in 2003 by Catalina Alvares and Mariana Hinestroza while they were studying fashion design at a Columbian University in Medellin. For a class project, they came up with the idea of taking discarded offcuts of fabrics and sewing them together to make bathing suits.
The idea of designing hand-made swimsuits from sample fabrics caught on. They continued to produce amazing, individual handmade items which comprise the unique, quirky and beautiful collections Agua Bendita produces season after season. Their swimwear capture the vibrant culture of South America through, employing local female artisans who hand embroider garments using time-honored techniques passed down through generations. You will find feminine silhouettes in bold prints paying homage to the Colombia’s natural beauty.
